Stuff wont turn on
When you turn on the system:
- Do lights on
the CPU light? No.
- (Yes) Do any displays go? No.
- (Yes) Do all displays go? No.
Sounds like stuff turns on.
Back to main troubleshooting.
CPU
lights no work
Problem is with main power.
Check the following:
- Power panel
switched on.
- Instrument breaker on.
- Processor switch on.
- Check main processor fuse.
- Check ground fault fuse.
See manual for details.
No
displays work
Processor lights up but no
displays work.
- Disconnect bus
cable at processor.
- Measure voltage on center contact of processor BNC socket.
- If 9 volts, processor is OK. Proceed to Processor OK..
Processor powers up but bus
voltage is low with no load attached. Return processor for service.
Processor
OK
Power
is 9 volts at processor with no bus attached.
To eliminate possibility that all display fuses are blown;
- Dismount 1 display and connect it directly to the
processor.
- If it lights up, the display and cable segment are OK.
Proceed to
Bad bus.. -
If it doesn't, try another cable and display.
- If you get it to work, proceed to Bad
bus..
Looks like all display fuses
are blown. This usually indicates a lightning strike.
Seek professional help.
Bad bus
Problem is part
of the bus is open or shorted
It
is safe to connect and disconnect bus components with the system
powered up.
- If there is a short, reconnecting that component will turn
off everything.
- If there is an open, everything downstream of the open
will not work.
To
find the problem, the bus must be reconnected a piece at
a time until the bad cable or connector is discovered.
Reconnect
components of the bus cable a piece at a time, starting
with a connection to a display. If there are any tees or junction
boxes in the path, disconnect the branch.
Once
you have 1 display working, reconnect pieces:
- If you connect a branch and all displays shut down, you
have a short in that leg.
- If you connect a branch and the displays on that branch
don't light up, there is an open in that leg.
Proceed,
discovering shorts and/or opens, replacing the cable or tee as needed.
