Panasonic MDWD
The MDWD is a wireless "screen repeater"
device. It uses Ethernet to display a copy your PC screen, and send
screen touches back as mouse input.
Features
- 8.4 inch, 800x600 transflective color LCD. Sunlight readable.
- Touchscreen.
- Splash-proof.
- WiFi ethernet connection.
- Maximum of 4 hours operation on internal battery.
It is important to note that the MDWD is not a computer. It requires a PC with ethernet and a WiFi interface to provide the video that it displays. |

The MDWD is the
cockpit display of choice on grand-prix boats. They are convenient and
affordable, but they have some disadvantages.
- When the MDWD is repeating your PC screen, it changes the
PC resolution to 800x600. These days, that is a considerable limitation.
- Because its PC drivers are no longer maintained, it is not compatible with Vista or Windows 7.
- The MDWD is no longer being produced by Panasonic. However, there are many places that deal in used units.
Still, for portable cockpit PC repeating applications, it is the current choice.
You can purchase MDWDs from Artie Means. Artie is very knowlegable about them, and you will need his expertise to get them working.
